With each passing year, it seems that more actors will have the opportunity to star in a superhero film. There are plenty of super stories (and talented actors to star in them) to go around, whether they’re part of the ever-expanding MCU or a one-off hit. Melissa McCarthy’s latest film Thunder Force is a great example, allowing some big actors to work in the genre’s rising popularity. The cast of the upcoming Netflix comedy is full of first-timers in the superhero genre, but the funniest person on set may surprise you.
CinemaBlend’s Jeff McCobb asked some of Thunder Force’s stars who was the funniest person on set during an interview. Surprisingly, the cast rallied around Pom Klementieff, with whom veteran comedian Bobby Cannavale was thrilled to work on set. He says it himself:
Pom made me laugh out loud in that scene, where they’re working out in the weight room or whatever it was. It was difficult to maintain composure. Pom and I had never met before, so I was ecstatic to be shocked in such a way by someone I had never seen, let alone interacted with. So, I was having a hard time holding it together with Pom, and I believe she has a pretty good deadpan.
Despite Laser’s destructive nature, it appears that there was still room for levity. Lydia Berman (Melissa McCarthy) and Emily Stanton (Octavia Spencer) play former best friends turned superheroes Lydia Berman (Melissa McCarthy) and Emily Stanton (Octavia Spencer) as they battle The King (Bobby Cannavale) and Laser (Pom Klementieff) to defend Chicago. Based on the teaser, it appears to be a hilarious parody of the last decade’s mega-blockbuster superhero films.
